CR/LF Software

Most of the software we create at CR/LF is client-specific, targeted at a specific problem one of our consulting clients has. However, some solutions are generic enough to offer it to a wider audience, such as our

AnnotationTranslator

AnnotationTranslater is a tool to aid companies which have to produce the same AutoCAD drawing in more than one local language.

You first create the drawing in your preferred language. Once finished, AnnotationTranslator translates the drawing into as many target languages as you like. AnnotationTranslator 'translates' drawings by exchanging annotation blocks and by exchanging user-defined phrases (sentences or parts thereof) in block attributes and single line text with given phrases in the foreign language.

To see how AnnotationTranslator works, it's best to try for yourself. Download this ZIP file for use with AutoCAD version 2000 and up. Decompress the ZIP file, open the included sample drawing, drag the application into the drawing and run the TRANSLATE command.

The evaluation version of AnnotationTranslator is limited in that it only translates a few annotations in every drawing you try it on. If you like what you see, you can buy the unlimited version of AnnotationTranslator. The product is very cheap: a single user license costs US $50, a site license (unlimited user license) costs US $250. Order using the order form included in the evaluation version archives. For payment we accept Paypal, direct bank transfer, or cash.

The profession version of AnnotationTranslator adds more functions:

AnnotationTranslator Professional

Besides exchanging complete annotation blocks, the standard version of AnnotationTranslator (as explained above) is limited to exchange phrases within block attributes and single-line text. This is sufficient for many applications.

The Professional version of AnnotationTranslator adds two functions for companies using large textual descriptions within drawings. One addition is support for AutoCAD's multi-line text elements (MTEXT, paragraph text). AnnotationTranslator Professional exchanges phrases in multi-line text while retaining the formatting where possible.

The second extension is a word-for-word translation performed by a new TRANSLATE-WORDS command. While the standard version of AnnotationTranslator always exchanges phrases (which could be complete sentences as well as just a few characters within a word) the Professional version breaks down each annotation into individual words to be exchanged completely only. This option is very valuable if you have a large dictionary of words like the one used by expensive translation programs.
