see the bibliography section of this site.CBID is never complete as new records and CDs appear and some old rarities are discovered. This section presents interesting additions and corrections to CBID.
Today: An updated and complete list of Chuck Berry tribute songs.
Many musicians influenced by Chuck Berry covered known or unknown songs from his repertoire. The thousands of cover versions listed in CBID and later on this blog prove this.
In addition there have been dozens of musicians showing their admiration by writing and/or recording tribute songs highlighting Berry’s music or the man himself.
These tribute songs were listed in CBID Vol. 2, pages 760 to 770, and in CBID Vol. 4, pages 2054 to 2056 plus on this blog. The list below is an update to these previous reports.
What was missing so far was a chronological survey of the tribute songs discovered so far. Here it is, ordered by recording year. This shows that the very first Chuck Berry tribute songs were published in the early 1960s. I added composer credits so you can distinguish songs having the same title.

Note: Chance McDermott aka Chancellor (USA) and the track "Chuck Berry" on CBID page 762 turns out not to have any Berry resemblance whatsoever. Despite the title. It is an instrumental going nowhere musically. Just the same beat and rhythm for over 6 minutes.
Also two other so-called tributes are not included: Great Plains (USA) “Chuck Berry’s Orphan” (1985), and NRG Ensemble (USA) “Wouldn’t Want To Eat It (For Chuck Berry)” (1997). Despite the titles they have nothing to do with Berry’s music.
